Part I | Chapter 4 82 Supplementary D A margin analysis considering only translations in the centre of gravity of the seminal vesicles and prostate is provided in Table S2, using the van Herk formula (2.5å + 0.7s). The results provided in this table should be used with caution as the values are only representative for the centre of gravity of the seminal vesicles and only incorporate the effect of translations. In our opinion, margins for the seminal vesicles should be based on dosimetric analysis, incorporating rotations and thus ideally will be anisotropic and inhomogeneous. The reported values for the seminal vesicles in Table S5 are the mean values of the left and right seminal vesicle, as the seminal vesicles have highly similar population random and population systematic errors. The reported values in the table are based on the last available data point (9.6 min) from Figure S2. Translation direction Seminal vesicles Prostate X (left-right) 1.9 mm 1.6 mm Y (anterior-posterior) 3.8 mm 4.0 mm Z (caudal-cranial) 3.5 mm 4.1 mm Table S2 – Table with results from calculations using the van Herk formula (2.5å + 0.7s) and the reported population systematic å and population random s errors for the translation directions at the last time point reported in Figure S2 (9.6 min). Important note: these values should be used with caution as these values only incorporate intrafraction motion during the beam-on period and only consider translations in the centre of gravity of the seminal vesicles.
