A 157 Appendix ABOUT THE AUTHOR Carolyn Teuwen was born on May 20th 1985 in Heemskerk. She grew up in Krommenie and started studying medicine at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in 2002. She temporarily interrupted medicine to study and obtain a bachelor’s degree in Sign Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam. She finished her medical studies in 2010. Because of her passion about teaching and education, she immediately started as a medical teacher at the Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep after graduating. She teaches both medical and nursing students and has helped set up the medical curriculum within new internal nursing programs. In 2018, she started a part-time PhD track on interprofessional education between nursing and medical students. Currently, she still works at the Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep and is setting up various interprofessional education initiatives within the hospital. She is married to Peter Jan and together they have four children: Kilian (2014), Xavian (2016), Quinten (2018) and Kira Mae (2021).
