106 Chapter 7 DISCUSSION In this thesis we aimed to contribute to the growing body of knowledge on effective strategies for preparing nursing and medical students for collaborative practice in the care for patients, and especially, older adults. This Discussion chapter includes the following paragraphs: A summary of findings, interpretations, which IPEC core competencies were trained in our IPE intervention and what could be improved, Social Capital Theory and Self-Determination Theory in understanding IPE, limitations, implications and recommendations and reflexivity. Summary of findings We conducted five studies to answer our overarching research question. A visual representation of our studies is shown in Figure 7.1. Our main findings are summarized in Table 7.1.
