Moreover, GJs have been reported in mediating bystander e ects of conventional treatments such as radiotherapy, raising the question of their potential involvement in similar e ects observed with NTP. It could also be appreciated that understanding the dual pro- vs anti-tumoral role of GJs is needed to provide additional perspectives on optimizing combination therapies and deepen our mechanistic insights into emerging redox-based cancer treatments. Finally, the results of the experimental chapters and novel insights touched upon in the review chapter are combined and discussed extensively in the light of the current literature in the last chapter 6.
