100 Chapter 4 Table 2 provides an overview of the outcomes and data sources, participants and analysis methods. Process elements Scope of the process evaluation or implementation outcome Data sources Participants Analysis methods Implementation Evaluate the implementation plan Interviews Clinical advisor Content Reach – did the implementation reach all relevant stakeholders¥? Interviews Stakeholders¥ Content Reach – availability of the smart beds Surveys Nurses, Patients Descriptive Dose – self-reported quantity of use Surveys Nurses Descriptive Dose – observed quantity of use Observations Patient beds Descriptive Fidelity – self-reported quality of use Surveys Nurses Descriptive Fidelity – observed correct use of the smart functions Observations Patient beds Descriptive Mechanism of impact How did the users react to the smart functions? Assessing determinants [21] to use TIMBER. Interviews Stakeholders¥ Content Surveys Nurses, Patients Descriptive Context Were there any contextual factors† that might have substantially influenced the use of the smart functions? Interviews Stakeholders Content Surveys Nurses, patients Descriptive Observations Patient beds Descriptive ¥Stakeholders; The contract manager from the manufacturer, clinical advisor from the manufacturer, the manager of the facility department, the sector manager, team manager, key user and nurse of two different wards. † Contextual factors, such as other implementation processes, connectivity issues or stakeholder changes. All nurses working at a clinical ward were eligible for inclusion. Nurses were invited to complete a questionnaire during slower hours on the data collection days. A response rate was not calculated, as only the nurses present at the time were invited, and refusals were not systematically recorded. While most nurses were willing to participate, some had to stop filling out the questionnaire due to patient care responsibilities. No exclusion criteria were applied, since all nurses are expected to work with the beds. Several stakeholders were invited to participate in interviews, including the clinical advisor, manager of the facility department, sector managers, team managers, key users, and nurses. Interviews were scheduled for approximately 30 minutes during regular office hours. Participants were allowed to choose a convenient location for the interview. No exclusion criteria were applied.
