229 About the author ABOUT THE AUTHOR Catharina Elisabeth Maria Vink was born on October 6th, 1994 in Gouda, the Netherlands. She grew up there with her parents, Sylvia and Perry, and her twin brother, Duncan in Waddinxveen. From an early age she was a hard worker, you could find her in the swimming pool every day of the week for competitive swimming or playing water polo. This mentality stayed with her throughout her studies and research. In 2013 she graduated with a VWO diploma from Coenecoop College and moved to Amsterdam to study medicine at the Vrije Universiteit. In addition to her studies, she was active in various committees and represented the bachelor students. During her studies, she developed a love for cardiology, which grew stronger during her clinical rotations. She conducted her scientific research internship at the Vrije Universiteit at the cardiology department learning about the use of CMR in cardiac resynchronization therapy, and completed her final internship in cardiology at NWZ in Alkmaar. After receiving her Master of Science, she started this research as a PhD student under the supervision of dr. Appelman, dr. Eringa, dr. van de Hoef and prof. dr. Chamuleau. She presented her work on the pathophysiology and diagnostic approaches in Angina with non-obstructed coronary arteries at multiple conferences. In addition to her research, she was the chair of ASAP, an organization for doctoral students at the UMC in Amsterdam. After finishing her thesis, she started working as ANIOS Cardiology in Alkmaar and from April at Amsterdam UMC to continue her promising career in cardiology. A
