271 Acknowledgements Martine, you discerned my needs at crucial moments in the latter part of this journey. You gave me support in ways you didn’t even realize. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you and having meaningful conversations about healthcare, organizations, and life in general. “Tante” Cynthia, we can still pull off being related at international congresses! Our lives have intertwined in many professional and personal ways. Thank you for your warmth, encouragement, listening ear, opportunities for collaborations, and food! Shannon and Marieke, my “smarties,” we have lived lives together these last years. Thank you not only for being dear colleagues, but dear friends and for supporting me through my pregnancies and enjoying my boys. Christine, you’ve had endless patience to my endless questions and allowed me to drop in to your office and invited me to your home. Thank you for sharing your heart and organizational wisdom with me. For dear TTA, even though our composition has shifted over the years, I cherish memories of our weekly meetings where it was a safe space to come together and share about work and life. It was a privilege to know you all, both in and out of the office. For Donor Studies, as the composition has also shifted over the years, I’m grateful to have gotten to know you all. I want to especially thank Lisa for always being dependable and helpful, Marloes for being fun and real, and Katja for being a light. For the “BOI boys,” you all have been my secret favorites. I knew I could always rely on you all for a good laugh, to share stories over lunch or coffee/tea, or learn something new about blood-borne infections, testing, and other random topics. Thank you for such kindness towards me. For my ISBT family, which includes Jenny and the Central Office, Young Professionals Council (past and present), Judith, and those who made the last two years in finishing this thesis more bearable and fun as we organized events for the global transfusion community. Yay I’m finally done! I thank all the interview respondents I’ve interviewed from around the world. While I cannot disclose their names, it’s been such an honor to hear your perspectives.
