195 About the author ABOUT THE AUTHOR Robin Michael Van Eck was born on 12 February 1986 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He grew up in Amstelveen and attended high school at the Christelijke Scholengemeenschap Buitenveldert (CSB) in Amsterdam. Afterwards, he studied for one year at the Amsterdamse Theater Academie (ATA). In 2005 he began his medical education at VU University, Amsterdam and graduated in 2011. He started working at Mentrum in a rehabilitation clinic with patients with severe mental illness. After a job in internal medicine, he decided to apply for a residency in psychiatry at Arkin Institute for Mental Health in Amsterdam, in 2012. During his training, he started with the research in this thesis, which later became a PhD project at Amsterdam UMC. As a psychiatrist, he has worked in a F-ACT community mental health team in Amsterdam-Noord and at outpatient departments of Focus GGZ/Caleidozorg in Amsterdam and currently of Invivo Clinics in Amstelveen. Robin is married to Carlinde and together they have three children: Hanne, Douwe and Calle. A
