46 Chapter 2 Wound dehiscence Wound dehiscence was described in 40 studies. In 2178 patients a total of 100 wound dehiscences were seen. The pooled proportion of total wound dehiscence was 0.04 (95%- CI: 0.03 – 0.07; I2 = 73%, p ≤ 0.01) (Figure 3). [36, 42, 45, 46, 52-54, 56, 65, 69, 82, 91, 93, 97-99, 101-103, 111, 113, 114, 116, 117, 127, 131, 142, 149, 157, 158, 160, 162, 165, 173, 179, 183, 186] Separate pooled proportions were calculated for the following conditions: Anorectal malformations 0.04 (95% CI: 0.02-0.07; n = 52/1140; I2 = 74%; p ≤ 0.01); Gastroschisis 0.06 (95% CI: 0.04-0.08; n = 22/389; I2 = 0%; p = 0.11); Duodenal obstruction 0.01 (95% CI: 0.000.03; n = 3/315; I2 = 0%; p = 1.00); Hirschsprung’s disease 0.06 (95% CI: 0.03-0.11; n = 8/137; I2 = 0%; p = 0.49); Biliary atresia 0.04 (95% CI: 0.01-0.10; n = 4/105; I2 = -0%; p = 0.19). Small intestinal atresia (N=38), Meckel diverticula (N=34), congenital diaphragmatic hernia (N=11) and omphalocele (N=9) are included in the overall proportion but did not meet the criteria for separate statistical analysis. Figure 3 - Pooled proportions wound dehiscence Anastomotic leakage Anastomotic leakage was described in 53 studies. In 5009 patients a total of 163 anastomotic leakages were seen. The pooled proportion of total anastomotic leakage was 0.03 (95%-CI: 0.02 – 0.05; I2 = 72%, p ≤ 0.01) (Figure 4).
