| 54 by Kerpershoek and Wolfs (25). The main research question was to identify experiences, barriers, facilitators, and conditions relating to the diagnostic process and post-diagnostic support. Country findings were reported in a narrative and comprehensible way, including detailed descriptions of categories and illustrative quotes in a preformatted document. Researchers in the Netherlands (Dutch), Canada (French) and Poland (Polish) translated category names and quotes into English. Two researchers (MH & IL) held weekly meetings in which they analyzed the data from all countries considering the research question of this paper using Atlas.ti. These authors previously undertook a similar approach to analyzing data from multiple countries (26). After familiarization with the data, data from the diagnostic process and post-diagnostic support were analyzed separately. Existing codes from Canada, Poland and the Netherlands were grouped into similar topics for the diagnostic process and post-diagnostic support. Similar topics were grouped together into preliminary themes. MH and IL kept notes on any similarities between categories and preliminary themes of the diagnostic process and post-diagnostic support during the analytical process. These were used to merge the preliminary themes and categories from the diagnostic process and post-diagnostic support into one set of overarching themes. These were discussed in light of the research question as data was collected and analyzed at a country level in the broader scope of the COGNISANC project. Those preliminary themes or topics that did not fit the aim of this study were excluded from further analysis (e.g. they reflected specifically on patient needs and experiences). Data from Australia was integrated into the preliminary themes with the purpose of data verification. In the final step, MH checked whether each theme was represented by data from focus groups and interviews. Findings were discussed with CW, FV and MV to finalize the themes. The integration of qualitative data and quantitative data was an irritative process. Quantitative data and results relevant to the qualitative themes were identified by MH. A rough draft of the content of each theme and notes made during the qualitative analysis process were used to guide this process of integration. MH and IL discussed this step to finalize the integration of data. Table 1 displays the integration of qualitative and quantitative results in the analysis phase.
