| 182 minutes and were conducted by phone or online through Microsoft Teams. Telephone interviews were audio recorded and online interviews were audio and video recorded. Only participants and interviewers were present during data collection. Interviewers took field notes during and after conducting interviews. A topic guide for the interviews was developed based on the existing evidence base and with expert consultation and piloted with our Patient and Public collaborators and stakeholder groups. The topic guides focused on exploring information needs, current sources of information, barriers, and facilitators to accessing information and unmet needs and provided interviewers with questions and prompts. Demographic information (age range, nationality, ethnicity, language) was collected from all participants at the start of the interview. Online interviews were transcribed using Microsoft Teams, and phone interviews were transcribed by a third-party professional transcription agency. No repeat interviews were carried out and transcripts were not returned to participants for comments or corrections. Data saturation was discussed with the research team but deemed unlikely for the secondary analysis. Data analysis A secondary inductive thematic analysis was carried out by two researchers (MH and CdL) (40). Data relevant to the concepts of carer burden and social care were coded by MH and CdL independently of each other using Microsoft Word and Atlas.ti Mac (Version 22.2.3). Informal caregivers’ and social care workers’ interviews were analysed separately. MH and CdL regularly discussed their codes to form joint ideas of categories and derived two coding trees and sets of themes from the data. To further substantiate our preliminary findings, we adopted two strategies: • We used additional data from user-testing interviews on the Forward with Dementia website, held with social care workers and informal caregivers. While the user-testing session aimed to gather feedback on the website, the original interview guide was incorporated into these user-testing interviews. CdL conducted most of these interviews and compared and contrasted our findings against the interview transcripts to ensure no new ideas emerged.
