Indeed, we also saw variation in outcome. Whether practice variation is related to variation in outcome and whether the implementation of an Enhanced Recovery After Thoracic Surgery (ERATS)-protocol in the Netherlands indeed reduces practice variation leading to less variation in patient outcomes is currently being studied in the ERATS-study. The results are expected in 2024.
