Roxanne Schaakxs

CURRICULUM VITAE CURRICULUM VITAE Roxanne Schaakxs was born on April 19, 1988 in Harderwijk, the Netherlands. She completed bilingual secondary education in 2006 at RSG Slingerbos/Levant in Harderwijk. After studying Digital Communication at the Hogeschool Utrecht for two years, she went on to study Pedagogical Sciences at Utrecht University with a strong emphasis on research. Her bachelor thesis was on the topic of adolescents’ perceived parental privacy invasion and she graduated in 2011. In 2012 she obtained a masters degree in Youth Studies at Utrecht University, after studying alcohol-specific communication between adolescents and parents. As part of this master she also completed an internship at the Trimbos Institute (Netherlands Institute for Mental Health and Addiction) focused on an intervention for frequent cannabis using adolescents. Next, she started the research master Lifestyle & Chronic Disorders at the VU University and graduated in 2014. The full second year of this master she was an intern at GGZ inGeest/VU Medical Center and the Amsterdam Public Health research institute (at the time EMGO+) in Amsterdam, during which she studied depression, psychosocial stress and telomere length in the Netherlands Study of Depression in Older Persons (NESDO). After graduation, she stayed at GGZ inGeest working as a PhD student which resulted in this thesis. She conducted research on depression and aging, studying both chronological age and biological age (telomere length). Currently, she is working as a data manager and marketeer at GGZ inGeest/VU Medical Center. 165
