Curriculum vitae 163 APPENDIX Curriculum vitae Desley Maria Gijsberta Ingrid van Zoggel was born on June 14th 1991 in Veghel, the Netherlands. In 2009 she graduated from secondary school at Gymnasium Bernrode in Heeswijk. She went on to study Medicine at the University of Maastricht. In this period shewas amember of the organising committee for the Rosalind FranklinContest, member of IFMSA-Maastricht and national board member of IFMSA-the Netherlands. During herMaster’s degree she followed an elective internship at the Surgical Oncology department of CatharinaZiekenhuis inEindhoven, where shewas introduced toprof. dr. Harm Rutten and started working on updating the database of patients with recurrent rectal cancer. In her final year of her Master’s degree she completed a research internship at the Pancreas and Liver Institute at Beth Israel DeaconessMedical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston. After obtaining her Medical Degree in March 2016, she started working as a PhD Candidate at the Surgical Oncology department of Catharina Ziekenhuis Eindhoven. InMarch 2018 she started working as a resident in the surgery department at Elkerliek Ziekenhuis Helmond and went on to pursue a surgical residency position by working at Isala Kliniek Zwolle, Treant Zorggroep Emmen and Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen. In the fall of 2021 she decided to switch career paths. Currently she is working as a resident in elderly care at Zorggroep Noordwest Veluwe in Harderwijk. She lives in Zwolle with her husband Storm and baby Logan.
