2 Strategic Conformance: A Literature Survey In this chapter, the concept of strategic conformance is introduced as a potential key factor influencing initial acceptance of decision- aiding automation. The goal of this chapter is to identify ben- efits and potential disadvantages of strategic conformance. This is accomplished by synthesizing literature on acceptance research across three domains of cognitive engineering (including ATC), in- formation systems, and social psychology.
